Lynne Hinton
Faculty of Education, Executive Dean’s Seminar Series
19 March 2008

Lynne Hinton is principal of Buranda State School in Brisbane. She has led the school through a process of exciting and innovative curriculum and pedagogical reform, resulting in outstanding outcomes for students, teachers and the school itself.
Lynne believes children must be given opportunities to question, talk, wonder, imagine, puzzle and think – alone and with others – in order that they can learn to think clearly and well. To this end, philosophy is a core subject for all students at the school.
This presentation gives an insight into learning at Buranda State School, and describes the changes that have occurred as a result of teaching philosophy to all students over the past decade.
